Behaviour of individuals and groups in digitially mediated environments

Our first lecture on digital marketing discussed the behaviour of individuals and groups in digitally-mediated environments. Digital media has had a huge impact on how we communicate. Social media, email, and blogs have all changed the way we interact with each other. Jonathan Gradin conducted research for Microsoft where he suggested that computer systems are increasingly focused on supporting interaction among people. B&Q and Homebase both have Facebook and Twitter pages which gives customers the chance to interact directly with the company. It also enables them top post up-to-date offers and company information.  Homebase use their Facebook page to post pictures of the latest products and ideas of how to use them in your home. Homebase focus highly on interior design whereas B&Q has more of a focus on DIY, home projects and tools. B&Q also use their page to post competitions for its followers. This creates a far more interactive experience for its followers.

Both B&Q and Homebase have YouTube channels where they provide DIY videos on everything from hanging wallpaper to building a garden shed.

My first ever attempt at hanging wallpaper was a small wall behind my bed. After watching these YouTube video’s I decided to give it a go.

Here is a picture of what I did:

I was pretty pleased with myself (although there were a few lumps and bumps, it wasn’t bad for my first try). Now for the kitchen…..

I think this is probably my favourite wallpaper in my flat….now what colour to paint the walls? Suggestions are welcome.
